Do you have any of these concerns?
Do you have any of these concerns?
- Posture misalignments such as rounded shoulders, forward head posture, or scoliosis
- Limited range of motion
- Discomforts such as stiff shoulders, back pain, or TMJ issues
- Fatigue that doesn’t go away even after sleeping
- Shallow breathing
- Autonomic nervous system imbalances
Have you ever tried massages, chiropractic treatments, or various self-care methods to resolve these issues, only to find that the improvement was temporary and that the discomfort soon returned? Or perhaps you were disappointed, frustrated, or even gave up because things didn’t improve as much as you’d hoped?
The reason these concerns don’t get resolved is actually related to two factors:
1) Unconsciously holding tension in your body
2) Long-standing habits of how you maintain balance
Even if a massage or chiropractic treatment temporarily loosens your body, the habitual balance your body has developed over the years quickly brings you back to your old patterns of pain and discomfort.
Tension and Habitual Balancing in the Body
Tension and Habitual Balancing in the Body
Human body is designed to adapt to Earth’s gravity and smoothly transfer its body weight from the head, down the spine, pelvis, and legs, to the ground.
When gravity is applied vertically, bones become stronger, breathing deepens, and the autonomic nervous system and internal organs function more stably. As the core of the body awakens, you can move comfortably.
Not only can you move efficiently, but the bones also become stronger with the vertical load of gravity, and as pressure is evenly distributed, breathing deepens, and internal organs function well, maintaining your health.
However, when we unconsciously hold tension due to environmental factors, thoughts, or stress, our bodies lose the ability to naturally let the weight flow down to the ground.
As a result, residual tension accumulates in different parts of the body, leading to misalignment and pain.
Moreover, our bodies have an instinct for self-preservation, always trying to maintain balance.
For example, when you stumble, your upper body naturally pulls back to keep you from falling. Even in an unnatural, tense state, the body tries to maintain balance to stay safe. Once tension and balancing habits develop, they become unconscious, making it difficult to change them with just willpower or effort.
ROLFING®
Structural Integration
Rolfing is a 10-session series of bodywork that realigns the body’s balance to its natural state, adapted to gravity.
Through these 10 sessions, we release fascial tension and guide the body to remember the true, deep relaxation that comes from “RE = returning to its original state” and “LAX = relaxing.” At the same time, we reprogram habitual, tense movement patterns into more expansive and functional ones, supporting a smooth transition to your body’s natural, healthy, and beautiful balance.
With each session, you will become more aware of your patterns of tension and strengthen your ability to return to a relaxed state. As your body awareness becomes more vivid, you will begin to feel a flexible core and natural support, and as your recovery ability awakens, you will experience more energetic and vibrant days.

10 Sessions to Optimize Alignment
The 10 sessions, each designed with a specific theme to release tension and bring the body together functionally, ensure that the changes are sustainable.
Fascial Approach
By loosening the fascia, which shapes posture, we release accumulated tension and realign each part of the body to its natural position.
Movement Education
By releasing habitual tension patterns, we evoke fluid, efficient movement and re-educate the body to restore the connection and function of the entire system.
By working on the body from all angles in a three-dimensional way, Rolfing creates deep and lasting change.
If you believe that your life would be more vibrant and enjoyable if you were free from posture concerns, if your stiffness and pain disappeared, if you could sleep deeply, if you had more stamina, or if you could move more freely, why not experience Rolfing and reclaim true relaxation and optimal balance?

Yukiko Koakutsu,
Certified Rolfer™
Yukiko has completed her basic Rolfing training in 2013 with instructor Valerie Berg.
I used to be full of insecurities. I had sloped shoulders, a hunched back, my chin jutted forward, and I had skinny, bowlegged legs. Being self-conscious about my height, I shrank my posture even more. In my mid-30s, I remember walking while carrying my younger daughter on my back and holding my elder daughter’s hand, and the way I looked was so shocking to me—it was as if I were an old lady leading her grandchildren.
Despite wanting to change, I kept blaming myself, thinking that I couldn’t because I lacked muscle, willpower, stamina, or discipline. I was constantly tense, both mentally and physically. However, thanks to Rolfing, not only my body but my entire life has changed dramatically.
